Goal 1:  Every California public school offers the School Breakfast Program.
Goal 2:  All California students participate in the School Breakfast Program.
Goal 3:  Every school breakfast promotes health and appeals to students.

A champion of breakfast is someone who has taken extraordinary steps to improve access, increase participation or improve the quality of school breakfast. For example:

  • A teacher who made classroom breakfast work in her classroom.
  • A school food service director who increased the amount of fresh fruit in the breakfast program.
  • A parent who spearheaded menu improvements.
  • A student who encouraged other students to eat school breakfast.
  • A janitor who helped a school come up with a new way to collect trash after hallway breakfast serving carts were put in place.
  • A principal who made it a priority to expand breakfast participation.
  • A food bank leader who encouraged local schools to offer breakfast.

Is there someone like that in your community? If so, please nominate him or her to be a Breakfast First Champion of Breakfast.

Please fill out the form below and submit it by November 15, 2004. We will notify winners by November 22.
